Northern Hotel or similar hotels in HCMC city

I will be in HCMC in April. I would like to see what is the best (cheapest) way to book with Northern Hotel. Can I go direct to their web site or with a travel agent? and which travel agents should I go for? Is Ruby Hotel is as good as Northern Hotel? I am looking for a small newer hotel.

There are several hotels on that same street - Northern, Mai, Star and Asian Ruby 2, and just at the top of the street is the Spring hotel. All good solid 3-star properties.

Wotif seems to offer the cheapest rates for Asian Ruby hotel.But there is a booking fee and a fee imposed for any changes to your booking.

I called and spoke to the manager of Northern hotel and got a slightly better quote then what is on their website. But the website did mention that for three nights stay, you get a free dinner and a free transport pickup to the Airport and when I questioned the manager if this is still valid, he said that that was last year%26#39;s promotion.

Northern hotel still work out to almost US$70 more expensive than the Asian Ruby hotel for our party of 6 adults for a stay of 3 nights in June.

I am actually going only in June this year.

First time in Vietnam so cannot tell you about the hotels.

Just thought I%26#39;d share some of my research with you because we are both interested in the same two hotels, Northern and Asian Ruby.

By the way, Northern is more expensive by US$70 per night for 2 triple sharing rooms as compared to Asian Ruby for 2 triple sharing rooms.But then in Northern hotel, there are offering the Northern Suite whereas in Asian Ruby, they are offering premium deluxe rooms.
