We will just be rocking up to the hotel due to not knowing what date we will arrive in Hoi An.

The hotels within our price range are:

Cua Dai Hotel

Southern Hotel and Villa

Thanks in advance

Izzy

Where to stay in Hoi An?

or even Thien Thanh hotel?

Where to stay in Hoi An?

Hi Izzy,

We have 3 hotels on our list to choose from, havn%26#39;t decided which one yet.

Hoi An Hotel, Ancient House Resort and Phuoc An River Resort.

Cheers,

Stewie.

Hi Izzy and Stewie,

My hubbie (artattack, you can see his posts in the forum) and I just came back last week from Vietnam. In Hoi An we stayed at the Phuoc An River Hotel/Resort. The service is great, the breakfast a fantastic spread of both Vietnamese and western food and very clean place except for the staff trying to flog you to book the tours with them but after a while they will leave you alone if you make it clear you don%26#39;t want the extra services. The free bus shuttle operates at weird times which often not convenient when you want to be in town but hey taxi is max of 35,000 dong to or from Phuoc An River Hotel which we used a lot. There is a sister hotel called Phuoc An Hotel in town. If you will be swimming or lounging at the beach a lot, Phuoc An River Hotel is the best mid-range hotel, but if you prefer shopping, strolling and dining I recommend to stay in town. The town is small and everything is within walking distance and is quieter than HoChiMinh, you will be surprised when you get there. In town, you can get a boat ride, there are art galleries, souvenier shops, tailors, museums, historical exhibits and the open wet and dry market.

Try to search for independent reviews on the hotels you have on your list not just from Tripadvisor. If still you are not sure book only one night and when you get to Vietnam ask fellow travellers.

Hope you enjoy a hassle free holiday.

Mrs Turner

I forgot to add check out www.reidontravel.com. It is a free travel guide from an independent reviewer (not payed) for all places in Vietnam and he has got recommendations on where to stay at every budget range. The gentleman who wrote the guide lived in Vietnam until 2007 and he used to write articles for Lonely Planet. We used this travel guide as our bible and hubby still keeps a copy.

Cheers,

Mrs Turner

Hi Mrs. Turner,

Thank you for all of the information.

What hotel would you reccomend close to town with a pool?

We don%26#39;t mind if we have to take a taxi to town from the Phuoc An River Resort, so if you say this is a good place to stay we might stay there sa they have quoted us a good price.

Cheers,

Stewie.

Location is very important in Hoi An - I just was there a few days ago. Stayed first at the Hai Au and it was not very good and the walk to the center was too far. Next I went to the Nhi Trung right in town on the Hai Ba Trung, and for $15. I had a cute room, balcony, nice breakfast and great staff. Natch at that price there%26#39;s no pool or sauna, but I loved that small hotel. If you want a good time/meal be sure to try the Laugh Cafe on Tran Cao Van - we were actually rolling with laughter when the waiter had to run out to the market on motorbike to buy my dinner, a crab, come back and cook it, serve and crack for me and actually hand me each peice of shellfish. What a great Saturday night! Another great place is Miss Ly%26#39;s Cafeteria on Nguyen Hue. You can see the pics at:

i think im leaning more towards Cua Dai hotel. How is this in terms of its location?

Also how is Long life hotel located? i have read it is far out from the town.

Thanks

Izzy

Cua Dai is in between the old town and the beach. 4km between beach and town. No problem to walk or ride into town if you are active.

I would probably stay at this hotel next time I go to vietnam. I have heard it is a very good value hotel.

We stayed at Long life hotel which was beautiful and very close to town. Deluxe Room for $32 night. We stayed one week in town and one week at a budget hotel (Sea and Sand hotel)right near the beach. The beach is very relaxing with great seafood restaurants. But wherever you stay it is easy to get around and riding between beach and town there is lovely scenery.

Have a great holiday.

Contact me if you have any other queries. Hoi An is my favourite place in vietnam.

thanks so much for your reply shell28!

Thats great to know that it is located close to

the beach and town, i think we will try Cua Dai hotel when we arrive.

Many thanks,

Izzy
