First trip to Vietnam and we only have 4 days.Need help on what to see in such a short time.We are staying in Ho Chi Minh City.Want to cram as much as possible into such a short time and dont mind if this meens long drives.The best scenery , beaches etc.Hope you can help. Also currency, what is best to exchange and how easy?Do we take US dollars or OZ dollars, or exchange for Dong at airport?What should we budget per day for expenses?

Do not Exchange Dong at the Airport. They will charge you a percentage fee to do so. If you need to exchange money do it at a Bank (remember banks are closed Sat, Sun). What we would do is goto the Sinh Cafe Tour office they have a Money Exchange. Both the Open Tour Office and Banks dont charge a commision fee or percentage for exchanging money its just straight forward.

IMO, it%26#39;s a good idea to get some Dong (say $50~100 worth) to start with at the airport, as it%26#39;s virtually worthless and difficult to get outside Vietnam.

Then chase up a better rate, or lower charges/commissions, in the city etc as you become acclimatised for the rest of your stay.

It%26#39;ll only cost you a few bucks more, and is well worth it for the convenience, IMO.

Forgot to mention, $AU are perfectly acceptable, don%26#39;t worry about getting $US then having to convert twice to Dong with the attendant charges.
