Train vs Plane???: Hanoi to Hue/Hoi An (return)

Would love some help please. Horrified over the quote of $600 USD for plane from Hanoi to Na Dang return. Is there a comfortable train service worth attempting from Hanoi to Hue and then, returning, Hoi An to Hanoi? We are a couple, late 40s travellling with our 11 yr old son.

We have just booked flights from Hanoi to Hue 535000VND (about $48AUD) with Vietnam Airlines.

Ha from Vietland Discovery booked these for us as at the time we couldn%26#39;t book online. Have you tried to book through the Vietnam Airlines website? Where did you get the quote from it seems awfully expensive.

Ha has also orgainsed a private car for us from Hue to Hoi An for $42 USD.

Try booking the flights yourself on www.vietnamairlines.com or on the low cost airline: www.jetstar.com

From memory our flight from Hanoi to Hue was about $98.00 with Vietnam airlines. Only airline at the time that flies that route. We booked with the tour desk at our hotel - Hanoi Elegance 2 but I had done a little research prior to arriving in Vn.

I too booked flights just yesterday from Hanoi to Da Nang return for $48 AU each way. I booked at the website www.vietnamairlines.com. This price is fully inclusive of taxes.

Perhaps you made an error in conversion? I believe this price is about standard. You can also fly into Hue from Hanoi for the same price. Good luck!

Thanks all. I did end up booking myself online with vietnamairlines. No...the price quoted by the agent was correct!!!! Online is much much cheaper. Even booking by phone with Vietnam airlines is more exp than online. We live....we learn! Thanks again
