My wife and I are planning on going to Sapa for 3 days in April and are considering a homestay for one or both nights. What villages would people recommend that are less touristy and more authentic? Also, what should we expect if we were to do a homestay?
Which village(s) for a homestay?
I suggested Ban Ho village for your trip.

Bac Ha (110km from Sapa) has plenty of ethnic minority villages around it, most of which offer homestays of some kind.
You can expect great hospitality, lots of food and LOADS of locally-brewed alcohol! Don%26#39;t expect much in the way of comfort though - most people sleep on straw mats rather than soft mattresses, and toilet facilities are, ahem, basic. But it%26#39;s worth it for one night just for the experience and the memories.
