Hi there,

We are traveling through Vietnam for 6 months, first port of call is Hoi Chi Min City, then onto Cambodia, Laos and Thailand for another 6 months before coming back home. We have been advised by the travel nurse to take Malarone tabs as an anti Malaria drug for the full year while we are there, which will cost us a staggering 1,800 pounds between us. I would appreciate if anyone has got any advise regarding this matter, we were also wondering if its possible to purchase Malarone tabs out there,

do some more research - there are certainly parts of those countries that have multiple resistant strains of malaria. It really depends how you travel, where you go and the time of year etc.

I would NOT buy medications in those countries - there are very real counterfeit drug problems worldwide. For something that you are going to be taking long term and needing it to do an important job I would want to ensure the drug was legit!
