I Live in Nha Trang I will tell you as it is! Read On!

Hi im Sarah aged 22 from England and i now live in Nha Trang Vietnam with my partner Graham.

If you want to hook up for a chat anytime if you are travelling here that would be great my email is sljordan85@hotmail.co.uk and im staying at the Dong Phuong 1 Hotel Tran Phu Street

Basically what i think to Nha Trang is this:

1)Beaches are lovely but can get dirty, still to Louisianna or Sailing Club, they are private and security patrol them so no street vendors bugging you and on 25,000 dong for a sunbed (just over $1) for the whole day - dont use the beach at night you could get robbed offered sex by ladyboys etc...

2) Weather is amazing boiling hot 40 degrees barely cloudy or rainy and boiling at night so be prepared

3) Night time - go to Sailing Club after 11pm its buzzing but can be expensive order a ';Bucket'; this is a large cheap jam jar full of rum and vodlka and pineapple juice - Dont walk home alone just incase

4) The Locals - DO NOT MESS WITH THEM! say no to all street vendors politely dont buy off them or they are like flys and dont leave you alone. My partner agreed to a free game of pool with a street kid as he felt sorry for him and nearly got beat up by his family in the end! They are violent people - its a lovely place to stay and worth coming to stay and see but beware in the time i have been here i have seen a bloke get hit in the street broad daylight with a machete and 3 women from USA went to Why Not? Bar and got beaten to a pulp for no reason. you cant fight back or the police will pin everything on you and you get in serious trouble....plus if you start something 20 or more come along and will just batter you will pool cues.

5) The food - great! Beef noodle soup i love it so healthy and filling you only need to eat once a day really its too hot to eat alot and its really cheap. Go to Why Not? Bar they do great breakfasts and spagetti

6) Places to go - Octopus Diving for the best dives of your life! The mud baths in the hills, cable cars near the harbour and the markets

If you wanna chat about anything else to do with Nha Trang or like i said are travelling and wanna make friends then email me or come see us at the Dong Phuong Hotel

#4 is so true. Your information is valuable.

Don%26#39;t count on the so called experts hyping the locals. Interestingly one poster (VN lover) got mugged by a motorbike in Nhatrang. When the bike driver demanded money, this poster threw the bike into the sea. It%26#39;s so easy to hype and list all your positive experiences, but when the table is turned the true colors revealed.

OMG Sarah...now I understand why my mom insist in staying at Vinpearl. I want to stay inland get to know the culture and the local...after I read your review, I am not so sure anymore.

Sarah lives in Nha Trang so obviously knows the place 100x more then i do.

I recently spent 4 days in Nha Trang and thought it was great. Never saw an argument or a fight.

If you are coming home from the Sailing club at 1am get a taxi, it%26#39;s only $1 home. Although we walked it and had no problems.

Sometimes no matter where in the world you are you can be in the wrong place at the wrong time, just use your common sense!!!

To stay at the Vinpearl because of these comments seems rediculous to me. I didn%26#39;t go across to the place so can%26#39;t comment, but it doesn%26#39;t look like %26#39;the place to be%26#39;.

Stayed at the Asia Paradise. Thought it was great and very well located.

Agree with Sarah regarding the mud baths, snorkeling (we went with Rainbow though) and the markets :).

I would suggest going snorkeling with a company that supplies wet suits. We saw 100%26#39;s of jelly fish and didn%26#39;t get stung because of the suits.

Lac Ranh Restaurant is great fun. You cook your own beef, prawns, chicken, veggies etc on the bbq (xeo) on your table. Approx $7 for 2 to be very full.

Get the local bus from the airport to town for 30k Dong. Local bus is a bit deceptive. It%26#39;s actually a new 11 seater mercedes benz van. Pay about 170k Dong back from town to the airport via taxi.

Regards,

Shanan.

Can i just say i am not here to scare ANYONE or put anyone off but from what i have experienced (bad and good here) i thought i would write about it and i do not see the harm in that! Like i said beautiful place but you have to be very careful im sorry but you really do and if you did stay here and saw nothing good for you honestly i saw someone get hit across the back with a machete on my 2 day here for no reason!

Just stay out most of the locals way the restaurant and shop locals are lovely and helpful but the street people i find can turn on you in a click of a fingers...

I love being here apart from that and can i say you luckly person! Asian Paradise looks amazing!! Would love to stay there saw a weddding happening there the other day was unreal! Forgot to add about places to drink and eat try the irish bar the shamrock and Guarva i love it there and the owner Jason is lovely and happy hour is great...

I just got back from nhatrang and saw nothing like this at all, infact i never saw one arguement between anyone on our whole vietnam trip! I was amazed considering the traffic and competetion for sales on the streets. I am not doubting the violence but never saw a bit of it and i explored outside the tourist area on my own and on foot.

like i said good for the people that have been here and havent seen anything but im just saying the locals can be all smiles to you one minute and turn on you no matter who you are i dont go round looking for trouble im polite and dont stare at people or anything and yet we still got into a sticky situation from a simple game of pool with a little kid....i like this place its a nice place to come just be wary thats all i say like anywhere you would go thats different its not like going to Spain or Majorca this is vietnam not your typical english resort and ive been off the beaten track to and had no problems either but its just polite to say how you have experienced things thats what this website is all about

It was at Dan Market Nha Trang that we were followed by 2 lots of 2 men throughout the market - we knew they were following us, and when we ducked into a different place to avoid them, within a minute one of them was back behind us again. Could not shake them, even with telling them to go away. We had enough of all this, and walked out to find a taxi. As we were getting into the car, the taxi driver said loudly %26#39;shut the door%26#39; which I did, and just behind me was one of the four men who had been following us just behind the taxi. As we drove off, we passed all of the men and they watched and laughed as we left. Maybe sinister, maybe not, but who needs such stuff on their holiday.

And the beach does get very very dirty. Mud baths - hm, an interesting experience but not exactly pleasant when it is 40C air temp and you just cant cool down.

And the locals always talk about the Sailing Club after midnight!

have no idea... :)

Dam market is a trading center for locals and tourists so it%26#39;s so complicated. Maybe u should go shopping at Xom Moi market on Ngo Gia Tu street. It%26#39;s market for local ppl so there are not many travellers there, so less men bother u. Give it a try and see if u can buy anything at Xom Moi market.

Plus, u go to Hot mineral water (mud bath)so u should know that there is only hot water pool there.

at 40C, nothing feels good anymore
