Sapaco HCMC-Siem Reap Express

Dear ddame1 and all TA guests who concern about Saigon Siem Riep by bus with Sapaco

I have just called the Sapaco bus office 08.3 920 36 23 and I was informed that the Sapaco bus will offer the last 2 direct bus trips from Saigon to Siem Riep on Saturday Oct 29 2008 and Tuesday Nov 03 2008.

From Nov 04 2008, you will take Sapaco bus from Saigon to PP and will change other bus company in PP to go to Siem Riep. It costs only 22 USD

Best regards

Jason SSS

Thanks for all your info and email. What is wrong at the Thai/Cambodiann border and how long has it been that way? Guess there%26#39;s not much hope things will return to normal any time soon?

The story is very long but here are some main points I catch:

There is a temple at the top of a mountain between Cambodia and Thailand. By international standard, the border will run through the highest point of the mountain.

But French people having power back then drew the border differently so the temple belongs to Cambodia but the entrance is still in Thailand鈥檚 land.

The problem aroused when Cambodian people applied with UNESCO for this temple to be a world heritage site, and almost at the same time with the protest by so-called PAD (People鈥檚 Alliance for Democracy) in Bangkok which was in early September this year.

Btw, this PAD is some form of terrorists. There鈥檚 another group wearing red who protests against this PAD. Their first meeting was in 15 Oct having 50,000 people. Their 2nd meeting will be held in a much bigger stadium on 1 Nov.

I%26#39;m taking my first trip to Cambodia next month, and hoping that someone can give me some advice.

We were hoping to get from HCMC to Siem Reap in one day. If we take the 6:30 bus from HCMC to PP, is it possible for us to catch a bus in PP to SR soon after we arrive?

If so, will we need to arrange tickets for the second bus separately?

Any help would be appreciated.
