Entry to Vietnam by land - VISA?

Hi, my friend and I, both from the UK, will be travelling to Vietnam from Laos or Cambodia soon. I understand you can only get the e-visa if you enter through the airport?

I have checked on the embassy website and it says we need to send off our passports to get a visa - is this essential?

Does anyone have experience of obtaining the visa another way...on arrival in Vietnam or Thailand/Laos/Cambodia?

I would appreciate any advice.

Thanks!

Zoe

Entry to Vietnam by land - VISA?

Although I haven%26#39;t personally done it, whilst staying in Sihanoukville our Guesthouse owner, an American, mentioned that visas are very easily obtained there.

The Vietnam consulate issue visas within a few hours and about $40 for 30 day single entry. You may need to take your own visa photos.

Perhaps someone can confirm as we plan on using that route next trip.

Entry to Vietnam by land - VISA?

Hi Zozieb,

For Thailand, Laos %26amp; Cambodia, you can get the Visa on arrival easily, what you need just around USD 20 to USD 25 and 2 photo passports for each person %26amp; each visa. For Vietnam, you can%26#39;t get visa on arrival without the permit. I went to Vietnam last year, and Van arranged the permit for me, it costs USD 25/permit. You can contact him at: vantours@gmail.com

So total for the visa to Vietnam is around USD 50 which you don%26#39;t need to send your passports to the Embassy...

Cheers!

To get visas on arrival you need to have a letter from an authorised travel agent giving you permission to do this (it will cost you) and as well as the two passport photos you will need $US25 in crisp, clean, untorn American money. They will not accept other currencies or credit cards.

Thank you all for your comments.

Perhaps we will look into arranging it whilst we are in Thailand so we are not stuck when we arrive in Vietnam.

Does anyone else have experience of doing this?

Many Thanks again,

Zoe

Hi

Visa upon arrival from Laos/ Campodia can be done, but you will have to let the travel agent/company do that for you know exactly the name of teh border so it can be ok.

Best regards

Ordering visa on arrival costs you less time and money. I think it%26#39;s a good choice. My friend used that kind of visa and it worked out. You can visit this website for more information: www.vietnam-visa.com

good luck!
